Aims

To demonstrate to the students and to allow them to practice the following:

• sitting and lying down the less mobile patient in bed
• turning the patient over in bed
• moving up and down the bed
• the use of a sliding sheet

Intended learning outcomes

The student will be able to demonstrate the use of:

• easy glide sheets
• moving blocks.

The student will be able to demonstrate assisting the patient:

• sitting and lying down  in bed
• turning over in bed
• moving up and down the bed

Moving the patient up and down the bed

		A sliding sheet is placed under the patient. Both carers face opposite direction to patients' movement. The patient is supported by hand. A grip is taken of the sheet and the carers stand, therefore moving the patient.
