Nursing and Midwifery Students at TVU receive comprehensive practical training in basic manual handling skills, supported by resources including our Moving and Handling Intranet Web Site in the Wolfson Clinical Skills Centre.

Students can be faced with situations on a wide variety of placements that were not addressed during the course. Manual handling techniques do change and can vary, practice may relate to the type of patients being cared for and/or the placement policy. Through our links with Back Care Advisors/Manual Handling Trainers, National Back Exchange, Royal College of Nursing, Royal College of Midwives and Health and Safety Executive, we make every effort to ensure the training is evidence based and meeting current standards.
