Public Health and Primary Care

The Public Health and Primary Care subject group is one of 10 subject groups in the Faculty that deliver a range of modules, programmes, short courses and single study days to students working in health and social care settings. There are about 25 lecturers in the team based on two sites, Ealing and Slough Campus.

The team are all experienced health and social care professionals from nursing, teaching and public policy backgrounds who have moved into an academic role. We are committed to remain current in practice by maintaining links with our health and social care colleagues, continuing to practice and being involved in professional development and research. The team has expertise in the following areas;

  • Caring for Older People
  • Health Promotion and Public Health
  • Primary Care – Policy and Practice
  • Sexual Health - The team has a lot of experience of teaching students on pre-registration programmes.

Currently we deliver one third of the adult nursing branch programme, teaching modules in public health and primary care and nursing in primary care settings. We are proud of the fact that the pre-registration nursing programme is successfully preparing students to be able to work in primary care trusts once they qualify.
